Bishkek, Oct. 27, 2021 . / Kabar / . Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva Almazbek Beishenaliev met with Hans Kluge, the Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Europe.
During the meeting, Almazbek Beishenaliev expressed gratitude to the WHO regional firector for the comprehensive and timely support provided to Kyrgyzstan in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said.
The permanent representative highly appreciated the cooperation with the WHO Regional Office for Europe and emphasized that the WHO project activities make a significant contribution to the successful and consistent work of the state in protecting the health and sanitary-epidemiological well-being of the population, as well as strengthening the health sector.
In his turn, Hans Kluge thanked the Kyrgyz side for close cooperation in combating the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, he noted with satisfaction the start of the vaccination in the country, positive transformations in the health sector in Kyrgyzstan, and expressed readiness to continue the fruitful cooperation of the WHO with Kyrgyzstan.
During the meeting, the sides discussed topical issues of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and WHO, in particular vaccination against COVID-19, fight against other infectious and non-infectious diseases, improvement of mental health policy, possibilities of implementing digital health, as well as issues of eliminating vaccine-preventable diseases.
