Bishkek, Jan.25, 2020./Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Dastanbek Dzhumabekov sent condolences to his Turkish counterpart, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly (Parliament) of Turkey Mustafa Shentop in connection with the earthquake, occured on Saturday in Elazig and Malatya Provinces.
According to the Kyrgyz Parliament' press service, the condolence message reads:
"I was deeply saddened to hear the news about the victims of the Jan.24 earthquake in Elazig and Malatya Provinces of Turkey.
On such tragic days, Kyrgyz people express their solidarity with the brotherly people of Turkey.
On behalf of the deputies of the Kyrgyz Parliament and on my own behalf, I express sincere condolences to the brotherly Turkish people, to the relatives and loved ones of the victims, and wish speedy recovery to those injured."
The 6.8-magnitude earthquake jolted the eastern Turkish province of Elazig with a population of about 400,000 people at 20:55 local time (the same as the Moscow time) on Friday. The epicenter of the tremor that also affected the neighboring province of Malatya was located at a depth of 10 km.
As a result, at least 20 people were killed and more than 1,000 injured.
