Tourism in Kyrgyzstan to get easing with respect to preferential loans

Bishkek, Aug. 17, 2020. /Kabar/. The tourism sector is included in the list of industries to receive concessional lending, Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism Azamat Jamankulov told on the air of Birinchi radio of the Public TV and Radio Broadcasting Corporation.

According to him, due to the coronavirus pandemic, border closures and quarantine, up to 80% of tourism losses were expected.

"Today the situation is stabilizing. The borders are already gradually opening. Flights with Turkey have been resumed, perhaps with Russia and Dubai will be resumed also. Then foreign tourists will start coming", he said.

At the same time, Minister Jamankulov drew attention to the fact that the country began to actively develop domestic tourism.

"The situation on Issyk-Kul is medium heavy. The occupancy rate of resorts is 50%. Some entrepreneurs are fully engaged in their activities,” he noted.

The minister also stressed after the quarantine, increase in trips to the mountains among Kyrgyzstanis is observed.

Azamat Jamankulov noted the tourism sector has received preferential credits so far. However, there may still be some easing.
