Trade turnover between our countries in 2022 reached historical record - Chinese ambassador to Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, March 1, 2023 /Kabar/. Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense, Security and Migration of the Jogorku Kenesh Ulan Primov met with Chinese Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Du Dewen.

According to the website of the parliament, during the meeting, an exchange of views took place on a wide range of issues of Kyrgyz-Chinese cooperation, the sides expressed their readiness to continue active work in all areas of bilateral relations, including in the field of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Chairman of the Committee Ulan Primov, expressing gratitude for political support and economic assistance, noted the progressive development of bilateral relations, which are a priority in the foreign policy of Kyrgyzstan.

He dwelled on the projects implemented with the support of China in various sectors, which are of great socio-economic importance for Kyrgyzstan. In particular, Ulan Primov noted the importance of promoting and jointly implementing the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction project, which is of strategic importance for Kyrgyzstan.

Regarding economic cooperation, Ulan Primov stressed that the Kyrgyz side considers China as one of the main partners and is interested in developing mutual trade and promoting joint projects in various directions. “I would like to note the dynamic development of trade and economic relations. At the end of 2022, China ranks first in the total trade turnover of Kyrgyzstan,” he said.

Ambassador Du Dewen noted the high level of comprehensive cooperation between the countries.

“In all areas of cooperation, we have received great results and positive developments. The trade turnover between our countries last year reached a historical record and amounted to 3 billion 500 million US dollars. But this indicator is not the limit, there is great potential for strengthening and developing relations between China and Kyrgyzstan,” she said.

In addition, the parties discussed issues of deepening inter-parliamentary cooperation. Significant results were noted in the development of inter-parliamentary relations, which have acquired special dynamism thanks to joint efforts.

Ulan Primov congratulated on the upcoming annual session of the 14th National People's Congress and expressed interest in further strengthening inter-parliamentary ties with China.
