Bishkek, June 10, 2019 / Kabar /. The Asian Cup and the Central Asian Triathlon Championship will be held in Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul oblast.
The State Agency for Youth, Physical Education and Sports reported that on June 29-30, more than 300 athletes, both professionals and amateurs, are scheduled to gather at the Kapriz Recreation Center. Sportsmen from such countries as Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Hong Kong, Syria, Japan, Taiwan, Qatar and Kyrgyzstan have already confirmed their participation. For the first time, boys and girls of the U-15 category (under 15) will compete in the Central Asian Championship.
Participants will compete in the following distances:
1. “Super Sprint”: 0.3 km (swimming), 8 km (bicycle) and 2 km (running);
2. “Sprint”: 0.75 km (swimming), 20 km (bicycle) and 5 km (running);
3. “Standard”: 1.5 km (swimming), 40 km (bicycle) and 10 km (running).
Triathlon is a sport that combines three cyclical disciplines swimming, cycling and running. Its uniqueness is that the athlete must pass all three disciplines without a break and for a certain period of time. It is an Olympic sport.
