Turkiye hopes that tension on Kyrgyz-Tajik border to be ended quickly

Bishkek, Sept. 17, 2022. / Kabar /. The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a press release regarding the Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan border conflict.

“We are following with concern the recent developments on the Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan border.

We hope that the tension between the two friendly and brotherly countries will be ended quickly without further escalation and that the disputes will be settled peacefully through dialogue,” says in the press release.

The clashes on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border started on September 14.

According to the Board Guard Service of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan attacked border guarding and civilian infrastructure objects of Kyrgyzstan along the perimeter of the state border in Batken Oblast.

On September 16 evening, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan reached agreement on ceasefire. However, the Tajik sides having violated the previously reached agreements, fired mortars at Kyrgyz villages on Saturday morning.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, 103 people from the Kyrgyz side were injured, 24 people died, including children.
