Bishkek, Nov. 17, 2021 . / Kabar / . The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted on Tuesday a briefing on the results of a visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow to Turkey, during which the Turkmen leader took part in the 8th Summit of the Turkic Council.
The briefing also discussed issues of preparation of the Summit of heads of member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), chaired by Turkmenistan, to be held in Ashgabat on Nov. 28 this year.
Heads and representatives of the local mass media and journalists accredited in Turkmenistan took part in the press briefing. Representatives of foreign media from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Austria, Belgium, Great Britain, India, United Arab Emirates, France, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Russia, Romania, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Ukraine also participated in the briefing via videoconferencing.
Welcoming the participants of the briefing, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev emphasized the important role of this meeting in terms of comprehensive activation of international cooperation of Turkmenistan on authoritative platforms of regional and global significance.
Highlighting the main vectors emanating from the speech of the Leader of the Nation at the 8th Turkic Council Summit, Hajiyev emphasized the special importance of Turkmenistan's accession to the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States as an observer.
This briefing provided an opportunity to review the key areas of work of an important regional structure - the Turkic Council, which brings together the Turkic-speaking community.
In the second part of the briefing, participants were briefed on preparations for the 15th summit of Heads of State of the Economic Cooperation Organization, chaired by Turkmenistan.
The main events will include a meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, as well as a business forum of ECO member states.
During the speeches, it was especially emphasized that the meeting of Leaders of ECO Member States to be held on Nov. 28 - the Organization's Foundation Day - will be a good opportunity to exchange views on a wide range of issues, serving as a major concluding event of Turkmenistan's chairmanship in this authoritative organization.
