Turkmenistan president calls for increased foreign currency and attracting investments into the country

On 26 January President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov held an extended Cabinet session where the topic of foreign currency revenues to government coffers was on the agenda.

«The President focused the attention of the session participants on the need to undertake efficient measures to fulfill not only obligations to generate revenues in foreign currency but also to increase production volumes of export products, and directed that these issues be kept under strict control», — the state information agency TDH reports.

Moreover, according to the media outlet, the head of state emphasized the importance of searching for additional sources of income to implement the programs which are being adopted and to attract external investments to carry out projects which have already been scheduled.

At the same time, the President highlighted that entrepreneurs should be given more freedom, and that the activities aimed at restructuring state-run enterprises to joint stock companies and their privatization should be expedited.
