Ashgabat, Aug. 23, 2018 / Kabar /. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow proposed the establishment of the Consultative Council of the Heads of State of Central Asia during the talks with President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov at an enlarged meeting with the participation of members of the government of the two countries.
He said that earlier Turkmenistan raised the issue of the expediency of creating a new format of political communication in the Central Asian region. A three-step model of interaction was proposed, including preparatory expert meetings, meetings of foreign ministers, summits of the heads of the Central Asian states.
"If this practice proves itself from the positive side, in the future we can also think about the establishment of the Consultative Council of the heads of states of Central Asia," he said.
The Turkmen president believes that this form of regional dialogue will effectively address all the issues, providing the necessary political base for this.
The President of Kyrgyzstan is visiting Turkmenistan for 2 day state visit.
