Bishkek, Aug. 20, 2021 . / Kabar / . Turkmenistan provided its airspace for the evacuation of foreign citizens from Afghanistan by aircrafts, ORIENT reported with the reference to the press service of the Foreign Ministry.
Mass evacuation began in Afghanistan with the coming to power in the country of members of the “Taliban” movement. Turkmenistan provided its airspace in accordance with its international obligations and norms of international humanitarian law.
Earlier, the Foreign Ministry reported that the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Kabul, as well as the Consulates General of the country in Mazar-i-Sharif and Herat continue to operate normally, and diplomats continue to fulfill their duties.
Checkpoints on the Turkmen-Afghan border operate as usual, and in accordance with the procedure established by both parties, ensure the passage of the required number of road trailers and railway cars.
Employees of the diplomatic service and other state bodies of Turkmenistan carry out regular contacts with representatives of the “Taliban» movement on the protection of the state border, provision of customs, sanitary, phytosanitary and other types of control and supervision carried out when moving goods across the border.
Yesterday, the Consul General of Turkmenistan in the city of Herat held a meeting with the head of the “Taliban” movement in province of Herat, and the Consul General of the country in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif met with the head of the representative office of the “Taliban” movement in Balkh province.
