Bishkek, March 27 / Kabar /. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Chynybai Tursunbekov met in St. Petersburg with the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko, as part of his working trip to St. Petersburg.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current state of bilateral relations, and also discussed the issues of parliamentary cooperation within the framework of the IPA CIS.
Chynybai Tursunbekov congratulated Valentina Matvienko on the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the countries. "Russia is a strategic partner of Kyrgyzstan. Therefore, I consider it necessary to strengthen the inter-parliamentary dialogue in order to strengthen both political relations and multilateral cooperation. One of our tasks is legislative support in implementation of bilateral agreements," he said.
The Kyrgyz Speaker said that in April this year it is planned to hold a regular meeting of the Interparliamentary Commission (IPC) on cooperation between the Jogorku Kenesh and the Federal Assembly, which will be held in Moscow. The Speaker stressed the importance of holding the above-mentioned event to strengthen not only relations between the parliaments, but also bilateral cooperation.
In addition, Chynybai Tursunbekov touched upon the economic interaction between Kyrgyzstan and Russia. In his opinion, the Eurasian Economic Union plays an important role not only in strengthening trade ties between Kyrgyzstan and Russia, but also creates conditions for joint struggle against the world economic crisis. Also, the Speaker expressed interest in the development of relations between the regions of Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
In turn, Valentina Matviyenko assured the interlocutor that Russia supports and is ready to support the Kyrgyz Republic. "The dynamics of the development of Kyrgyz - Russian interaction is encouraging. For example, conditions for migrant workers from Kyrgyzstan working in Russia are being simplified. Moreover, regarding economic cooperation, here, within the framework of the EEU, joint work is constantly going on," she said.
Valentina Matvienko also stressed that the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly is interested in sending delegations for the forthcoming presidential elections as international observers.
At the meeting, Valentina Matviyenko presented Chynybay Tursunbekov the badge of honor of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia for his services in the development of parliamentarism. Moreover, deputy of the Kyrgyz parliament Almazbek Batyrbekov is awarded the Commonwealth Order of the CIS IPA.
The delegation of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic headed by Speaker Chynybai Tursunbekov is visiting St. Petersburg within the framework of the jubilee sessions of the IPA CIS and the CSTO PA.
