Bishkek, Aug. 13, 2021 . / Kabar / . Two climbers from Russia died as a result of accident in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the republic said.
Ak-Sai Travel OJSC providing travel service reported that climber and citizen of Russia failed at an altitude of 5500 meters when climbing the Victory Peak. The accident occurredon Aug. 8 at 12:30 a.m.
The search was terminated on Aug. 9 because the body could not be found.
On Aug. 6, a married couple of Russian climbers stopped for the night at an altitude of 6,400 meters when climbing Khan-Tengri Peak in Issyk-Kul Oblast of Kyrgyzstan.
At 10:30 a.m. wife radioed that her husband had suffered a stroke at an altitude of 6,900 meters.
The rescue team of mountaineers arrived at the scene only one day later. The couple spent the night at an altitude of 6,900 metres and survived.
On Aug. 9, the rescue team brought man down from the height and secured him with ropes, continuing to make their way down for further descent.
The next day the rescue team did not find the Russian climber. The search was terminated due to the inability to find the body. The wife was brought down by the rescue team.
