Bishkek, July 30, 2024 . / Kabar / . Customs checkpoints Fergana in Fergana region and Ok-Kiya at the entrance to the Shakhimardan exclave started working round the clock, without breaks and days off, the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan reported.
The transfer of customs checkpoints to 24/7 operation mode took place within the framework of agreements reached in mid-July 2024 at the meeting of Presidents of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov and Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Representatives of the two countries considered the tasks of organizing more efficient work at border crossings.
Among other things, they discussed opportunities for opening new and expanding existing border posts. This is expected to avoid congestion of people and vehicles on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border.
