Bishkek, Mar. 25, 2019. /Kabar/. Two-day celebrations were held on the occasion of the Nooruz international spring festival in the Kingdom of Belgium, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
On March 23, 2019, the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Belgium held a mini-football tournament with the participation of Kyrgyz citizens living in the Benelux countries and France.
Chargé d'Affaires of Kyrgyzstan in the Benelux countries and France Ruslan Bekbolotov delivered a congratulatory speech at the event. In his speech, Bekbolotov noted that such tournaments provide a good opportunity for compatriots to get to know each other better, to strengthen friendly relations and maintain communication between Kyrgyz citizens living abroad.
The event was held with the financial assistance of Honorary Consul of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Kingdom of Belgium P. Maceles.
On March 24, 2019, the Kyrgyz Embassy in Belgium took part in the joint celebration of the Nooruz spring festival in Brussels, which was also attended by the diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and representatives of European institutions, UNESCO and TURKSOY. The event was organized by the Bozar Center for Fine Arts.
During the solemn event, the visitors were shown the culture and life of the Turkic peoples, national products and cuisines of the participating countries, as well as performances by national artists.
The stand of the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan aroused particular interest among visitors. Employees of the embassy, as well as participating partners – travel companies Kyrgyz Muras, Nomadstan and the Salam Kyrgyz Association – presented products and souvenirs of the national applied art of the Kyrgyz people, national dishes to the guests of the event, as well as brochures about the tourist and investment attractiveness of the Kyrgyz Republic.
People’s Artist of Kyrgyzstan Roza Amanova was invited to participate in the festive concert as part of the celebrations, whose performance was also a great success among the participants of the celebration.
Following the event, the heads of diplomatic missions and the leadership of the Bozar Center agreed on the annual holding of similar events.
Nooruz or Nowruz is celebrated on the spring equinox, usually on March 21, and marks the beginning of a new year according to the astronomical solar calendar of the Iranian and Turkic peoples.
