Two fish and one duck farm to be open in Uzgen

Bishkek, Aug. 2, 2018 / Kabar /. Two fish and one duck farm is planned to be opened in Uzgen region within the framework of the decree of the Kyrgyz President, who declared 2018 the Year of Development of Regions, leading specialist of the Uzgen Mayor's Office Shuhratbek Turdiyev told.

He said that in the Year of Development of the Regions, the fish farm was opened in the village of Bash-Dobo in Uzgen for the first time. For this purpose, 16 people were selected for the project and three artificial ponds were created on 50 square meters of land.

"There are a lot of vacant lands in Uzgen, which do not bring any benefit. And on these lands we plan to open two more fish farms and one duck farm. These projects will be implemented by September of this year," he added.

The donors of the fisheries are the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) through the WFP. Over the past 2 years, with the support of WFP, more than 40 fish farms have been equipped in the economically vulnerable regions of the country to improve nutrition and income growth for low-income families.
