Bishkek, July 5, 2022. /Kabar/. It is planned to build two monorail systems in Bishkek, Mayor of the capital Emilbek Abdykadyrov said at a press conference following 100 days of his work.
The mayor noted that in order to modernize the road transport infrastructure, increase the capacity of the capital streets, create safe conditions for road users and fast movement through the city, a preliminary scheme of high-speed transport lines (monorails) over the Ala-Archa and Alamedin rivers, which connects the south and north of the capital, was developed earlier.
"Thus, according to the preliminary scheme 2 lines of monorail system along Alamedin and Ala-Archa rivers with the length 37 km are planned. In addition, the circular movement of monorail system has been offered, which will allow to cover all city that will promote effective and fast movement of the population in city limits,” Abdykadyrov said.
Preliminary cost of 37 km of the system is $562 million, i.e. 1 km of monorail will cost $15,2 million.
