Osh, June 18, 2021 . / Kabar / . British Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Charles Garrett and Governor of Kyrgyzstan’s Osh Oblast Zharasul Abdraimov officially opened the Business Innovation Development Center in Osh city.
The PEAK Osh Center is the second center launched as part of the PEAK Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development Program with the support of UK Aid of the British Government. The first center was opened in Bishkek in February 2020.
"The center provides the knowledge and skills to turn entrepreneurial ideas into sustainable businesses and increase the export potential of Kyrgyz goods and creative services to reach markets in other countries," Ambassador Garrett said in his welcome speech.
Zharasul Abdraimov noted there are many talented, progressive, creative young people in Osh.
"We hope the PEAK Center can be of great help in reaching markets and introducing good technology, particularly in agricultural processing," the governor said.
The two PEAK centers have conducted so far six business support programs for more than 100 startups and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (67% of which are founded by women).
Businesses that have received PEAK support have reported they have increased their revenue and created more than 50 new jobs.
