Bishkek, Sept. 10, 2021 /Kabar/. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Ulukbek Maripov met with Vice President of Turkey Fuat Oktay, who arrived in the country to participate in the X meeting of the Intergovernmental Kyrgyz-Turkish Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
“The Kyrgyz Republic regards the Republic of Turkey as a strategic partner with which we are united by long-standing historical and cultural ties, religion and language, fraternal and friendly relations. This year, 30 years turned to the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states. We express our gratitude to the Turkish side for the comprehensive support provided during this period. I am sure that the X meeting of the Intergovernmental Kyrgyz-Turkish Commission will be successful and we achieve good results,” Ulukbek Maripov said.
The head of the Cabinet noted that Turkey is one of the major trade and economic partners of the republic.
“I believe that it is necessary to make efforts to bring the level of trade between our countries to USD 1 billion. For the implementation of promising medium and small projects, we propose to create an investment fund,” he said.
Ulukbek Maripov also noted the developing cooperation in the social and humanitarian sphere.
He expressed gratitude to the Turkish government for the assistance provided in overcoming the consequences of the coronavirus infection pandemic and for the 150 thousand doses of vaccine provided recently. In addition, a Kyrgyz-Turkish hospital operates in the city of Bishkek, within the framework of the agreement under which support will be provided in improving the qualifications of medical specialists.
Fuat Oktay, in turn, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and noted the ongoing development of bilateral relations in various directions.
“The Kyrgyz Republic is a strategic partner for us, we are fraternal peoples. There is a goal - to bring the level of trade between our countries to USD 1 billion and we are ready to make efforts to further strengthen cooperation, including attracting investments to the Kyrgyz Republic,” he said, stressing the importance of deepening strategic partnership in areas of mutual interest and having socio-economic potential.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on topical issues of cooperation, including on the allocation of quotas for the training of Kyrgyz students in Turkish universities of a medical orientation, the resumption of the annual quota for the treatment of 150 Kyrgyz citizens in Turkish hospitals on a gratuitous basis, as well as reducing the cost of permits for labor activity on a parity basis.
