Bishkek, Oct. 3, 2018. /Kabar/. A round table was held at the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry (SAEPF) within the framework of the NDC Partnership review mission in Kyrgyzstan.

Director of the SAEPF Abdykalyk Rustamov noted that Kyrgyzstan has all the necessary tools and political will to take action under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

“Currently, Kyrgyzstan faces the task of making a contribution. According to the decision of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, countries need to renew their contributions every five years,” Rustamov said.

He expressed the hope that the items on the agenda will be useful to everyone, since climate change topics are sectoral in nature and only by joining efforts can success be achieved.

The NDC Partnership program is a coalition of developing and developed countries and international organizations, and aims to expand cooperation, to provide countries with access to technical knowledge and financial support necessary to achieve climate and sustainable development goals.

Experts from ministries and departments, science, as well as representatives of international organizations in Kyrgyzstan were invited to develop a multilateral dialogue and consultative process, to consolidate efforts and actions on climate change issues.

In 2017, Kyrgyzstan became a member of the NDC Partnership to improve the effectiveness of climate change activities and make contribution.
