Bishkek, Oct. 2, 2024. /Kabar/. The United Nations (UN), together with international partners, launched a new digital health program in Kyrgyzstan aimed at improving access to health services through the integration of digital systems.
This program, designed for the period from 2024 to 2027, is being implemented with the participation of the European Union, Spain and Sweden, as well as WHO, UNDP, UNFPA and UNICEF.
The program focused on vulnerable groups of the population, women and children, especially in rural and remote areas.
With a total budget of USD 4.03 million, the program is aimed at modernizing digital health services, developing telemedicine and improving electronic government services.
Digital technologies such as electronic health records (EHR) and telemedicine will cover up to 700 thousand children, and 60 health facilities will be able to provide specialized care to mothers and newborns.
The program also includes connecting millions of vaccination and lab records, which will allow more than 200,000 citizens to access their health data online, and improve the capabilities of 120,000 people with disabilities through digital certificates.
UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan Antje Grawe emphasized the importance of using digital technologies to expand access to quality health care and reduce the digital divide.
“Digital technologies are transforming our world, opening up opportunities for society. The Global Digital Compact, adopted by world leaders at the Future Summit last week, is a commitment to bridge the digital divide, advance the Sustainable Development Goals, and ensure that no one is left behind,” she said.
