Bishkek, Sept. 19, 2022 . / Kabar / . Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Aibek Moldogaziev met on Monday with UN Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic Antje Grawe, the Kyrgyz MFA said.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.
In particular, Moldogaziev informed his interlocutor about the current situation, including information about casualties and destruction on the territory of Kyrgyzstan as a result of an armed act of aggression by Tajikistan.
For her part, the UN Resident Coordinator reported on the activation of the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC), which was established to facilitate interaction between the Kyrgyz government agencies and the UN country team. This group will be directly involved in the provision of humanitarian assistance to the affected population.
Antje Grawe also reported on the actions the UN Country Team has taken to alleviate the suffering of the civilian population. She announced the beginning of the delivery of food and other relief items and informed about the imminent arrival of the UN Assessment Commission to determine the basic needs of the evacuated citizens of Kyrgyzstan.
The Kyrgyz deputy minister expressed gratitude for the launch of the ERCC and the measures taken by the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic to provide humanitarian assistance to those injured.
Antje Grawe expressed readiness to continue cooperating with state authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic to normalize life in the affected areas of Batken Oblast.
