UNDP, Kyrgyzstan working on Green Economy Program for 2024-2027

Bishkek, Oct.17, 2024. /Kabar/. UNDP together with the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan is working on the program Green Economy for 2024-2027, UNDP Resident Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic Alexandra Solovieva said during a press conference at Kabar News Agency.

She noted that three key areas will be discussed at the upcoming forum “Green Economy - 2024”.

“The first area is the green economy, which will cover the renewable energy sector, energy efficiency, fiscal incentives for waste management and other areas. UNDP's role here is not only expert. During 30 years of work in Kyrgyzstan there are a number of concrete project initiatives on the ground that show how waste management, tourism, green value chain help in creating jobs, in strengthening growth points in the regions with the application of environmental green principles and initiatives that are inclusive, create opportunities for youth and women among others,” Solovieva said.

The UNDP representative stressed that another important aspect is green finance, the promising investments that Kyrgyzstan is attracting and can attract even more from the public, private and commercial sectors, aimed at initiatives that promote environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation.

Alexandra Solovieva also added that climate action and climate resilience issues will be discussed in detail at the forum.
