UNICEF to continue to support Kyrgyzstan’s child protection policy

Bishkek, Jan.29, 2020. /Kabar/. Head of the President’s Office of Kyrgyzstan Dosaly Esenaliyev met with Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Kyrgyzstan Christine Jolme.

During the meeting, the sides discussed opportunities for support in implementing key areas of the decrees of the President of Kyrgyzstan on the National Development Strategy of the country, and the declaration of 2020 the Year of Regional Development, Digitalization of the Country and Support for Children.

Esenaliyev noted with satisfaction the fruitful cooperation with UNICEF in supporting the efforts of the Government and civil society in the progressive realization of children's rights in Kyrgyzstan.

"With the support of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov, last year the Tumar campaign to prevent violence against children was successfully carried out jointly with UNICEF. The Government has also done a lot of work to reduce the number of orphanages and return children to families," Esenaliyev said.

For her part, UNICEF Representative in Kyrgyzstan Christine Jolme said the Fund will continue to support the child protection and support policy.

"It is very important that children are the priority of the country's development. We believe that this meeting is a continuation and fulfillment of the promises, made in the framework of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. We especially appreciate the importance that every child has the right and should live in a family," Christine Jolme noted.

She also added that UNICEF is ready to continue fruitful and constructive work in this direction.

During the meeting, Dosaly Esenaliyev and Christine Jolme considered the issues of developing the network of pre-school education institutions, improvement of electronic enrollment in kindergartens and schools, creation of the model of smart schools and inclusive education, creation of 100 early development centers in the regions on the basis of libraries and digitalization, particularly in the social sector.
