Bishkek, Feb. 15, 2022 . / Kabar /. Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev took part in the official presentation of the created Public Association "Union of Furniture Manufacturers" of the Kyrgyz Republic, the press service of the ministry reported Tuesday.
Union of Furniture Manufacturers of Kyrgyzstan - voluntary, professional and public, noncommercial organization registered in January 2022 with the purpose of joining of efforts on overcoming of crisis phenomena in furniture branch and creation of necessary conditions for recovery in market conditions and export development.
Members of the association are about 30 domestic furniture enterprises.
“In order to increase the volume of domestic furniture production, it is necessary to create such unions and platforms to combine efforts to overcome the crisis phenomena in the industry and create the necessary conditions for recovery and development in market conditions,” Minister Amangeldiev stressed.
Currently, about 100 manufactures producing furniture produce work on the territory of the republic. Many of them produce furniture according to individual orders and offer designer's services.
The furniture industry annually produces from KGS 800 million to KGS 1 billion products, while its specific weight in the total industrial output is about 0.3%.
While the average annual production of furniture products in the republic is about KGS 900 million, the export is only USD 6 million. Part of small businesses in furniture industry are in the shadow.
The average annual volume of imports of furniture products is about USD 31 million.
