Bishkek, Apr. 17, 2020. /Kabar/. A unique Aigul flower bloomed in Batken Oblast of Kyrgyzstan, on the territory of the state Aigul-Tash botanical reserve, the press service of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic (SAEPF) reported Friday.

“Ai” in Kyrgyz means moon, “gul” – flower.

Aigul flower grows on the slopes of only one mountain Aigul-Tash. This rocky mountain is located about 17 km from Batken town.

Every year in early April, the first buds of this unique flower are revealed on the territory of the Aigul-Tash botanical reserve. The mass period of its flowering begins on Apr. 12 and lasts only for two weeks, more precisely, until Apr. 28, causing excitement to others. Therefore, it is not for nothing that the people say that those who saw the first Aigul flower blooming will be infinitely happy.

In order to preserve and expand the area of the unique Aigul flower, SAEPF Head Mirslav Amankulov instructed Director of Batken Territorial Administration Bakytbek Umarov to strengthen protection and control, as well as to temporarily ban visitors and tourists on the territory of the state Aigul-Tash botanical reserve during the epidemiological situation in the country.

The total area of the state Aigul-Tash reserve is 253.9 hectares. The unique Aigul flower, which is rarely found in the world, grows here. The flower was listed in the Red Book of the USSR in 1978, and in 2004 - in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan.
