Bishkek, May 9, 2020 / Kabar/. Unique Red Book spring flowers: peonies and tulips bloomed in the Sary-Chelek State Nature Reserve, the press service of the State Agency for Environmental Protection of the Kyrgyz Republic said.
There are two types of tulip, on the territory of the Sary-Chelek reserve, that are listed in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan.
At present, besides peonies and tulips, the Altai bathhouse has also blossomed there. All these rare unique flowers grow in rocky places and annually open their bewitching buds in early May. The flowering period of these spring flowers continues until the end of May.
Employees of the State Agency for Environmental Protection are constantly carrying out outreach activities with local residents, urging them to take care of the environment, flora and fauna, and also keep records and monitor the increase or decrease of certain rare species of wild animals and plants.
The total territory of the Sary-Chelek State Nature Reserve is 23 thousand 868 ha. The reserve is home to more than 40 mammals, 175 species of birds and 5 species of fish. Over 1200 plant species grow. Many of them are listed in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan.
