Unprecedented friendly atmosphere created between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan - MFA of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Jan. 11, 2019. / Kabar /. An unprecedented friendly atmosphere has been created in bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, this became known during the meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Chingiz Aidarbekov and Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, the press service of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

The sides noted with satisfaction that thanks to the establishment of regular interaction between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan at various levels, primarily between the heads of state, an unprecedented friendly atmosphere was created in bilateral relations, which allowed us to consistently solve the accumulated problems and reach a new stage of cooperation.

The ministers focused on priority areas for further deepening ties between the two countries in 2019 and for the future in political, trade, economic, transport and communication, cultural, humanitarian and other fields.

The interest of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in the development of cooperation on a long-term and mutually beneficial basis was confirmed. As noted, over the 11 months of 2018, mutual trade grew by 55% compared to the same period in 2017 and amounted to $ 363 million.

An important role in bilateral relations is played by regular meetings of the Council of governors of Kyrgyzstan in the border areas and khokims of the border areas of Uzbekistan chaired by the prime ministers of the two countries.

The ministers also exchanged views on the agenda of the first meeting of the India-Central Asia Dialogue with the participation of Afghanistan, which will be held in Samarkand on January 12-13.

The confidence was expressed that the forum in this format would allow expanding regional cooperation in various areas.

Following the talks, the foreign ministers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening and expanding cooperation both bilaterally and in the Central Asian format.

The newly appointed Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan Ibrahim Dzhunusov took part in the conversation.

Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov arrived yesterday in Tashkent to attend the first ministerial meeting of the Dialogue “India-Central Asia”.
