Bishkek, March 24 / Kabar /. For 25 years, the US has been cooperating with Kyrgyzstan in building a stronger economy, strengthening democratic institutions to combat various diseases and promoting quality in health and education, US Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Sheila Gwaltney told today during a press conference at Kabar Agency.
She said that the US supports stability and security in the Kyrgyz Republic. "We highly appreciate this cooperation based on the principles of trust, equality and mutual respect. The goal of the USA is success in Kyrgyzstan," she said.
In addition, the diplomat thanked all activists and organizations who work in the field of fighting tuberculosis throughout the country. "USA, through USAID, works in close partnership with the Ministry of Health and other key organizations to provide quality treatment and prevent new infections. Our joint efforts have made it possible to limit the spread of tuberculosis, reduce mortality and increase the overall level of success during treatment. The USAID Defeat TB project, project, implemented jointly with the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan, helped to improve the quality of services, as well as to introduce new models of outpatient treatment. The five-year Defeat TB project is the investment in health care and the future of the Kyrgyz people by the US in the amount of more than $ 12 million," Ambassador Gwaltney said.
She also added that since 2014, this project has trained nearly 3,200 doctors, nurses, and lab workers and supported more than 1,000 patients in completing the long and often difficult TB treatment process.
The US Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic concluded that the US Government will continue fighting tuberculosis together with Kyrgyzstan through USAID.
