Bishkek, Oct. 15, 2018. /Kabar/. The US authorities have transferred to Kyrgyzstan 40 tons of humanitarian aid in the form of medical equipment and medicines, which are intended for cancer patients, the press service of the Ministry of Health reported.
Medicines will be distributed between 4 hospitals in the country that provide palliative care: Osh Interoblast Children's Hospital, the National Oncology and Hematology Center in Bishkek, Osh Interoblast Oncology Center, Tokmok Territorial Hospital.
All equipment and medical products worth $ 300 thousand will be used exclusively for the provision of palliative care services.
The United States has provided multifunctional beds for adults and children, artificial pulmonary ventilation equipment, oxygen concentrators, systems and treatments for pain treatment, skin preparation, tube feeding, lifts, racks and walkers for patients, laboratory and diagnostic equipment, specialized furniture and various types of specialized equipment for the care of seriously ill patients.
The Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic with the technical support of the Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan in the autumn of 2018 plans to open palliative care departments and rooms in two new regional hospitals, as well as improve services for patients in cancer centers. The humanitarian aid received will help to equip hospitals with deficient specialized equipment, which will improve the quality of services for this particular vulnerable category of patients.
