USAID to help in improving air quality in Bishkek

Bishkek, Dec. 21, 2022 / Kabar/. Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to the United States of America Bakyt Amanbaev on December 20 met with Deputy Assistant Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Anjali Kaur.

According to the diplomatic mission, during the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the development of bilateral cooperation and increasing the effectiveness of US government assistance to Kyrgyzstan.

Amanbaev noted that under the leadership of President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, large-scale projects are being implemented that will contribute to the economic development of not only Kyrgyzstan, but also all Central Asian countries, and explained the importance of such projects.

The ambassador also identified sectors in Kyrgyzstan that need special assistance and pointed to the need to focus all US government assistance on rebuilding the Batken region and improving air quality in the capital, Bishkek.

The American side, supporting the proposals of Ambassador Amanbaev, noted that the US government had provided assistance to the residents of Batken in the form of humanitarian aid totaling 8 million soms, and said that USAID would launch a special project to improve the environment and air quality in Bishkek.

USAID is the world's leading international development agency funded by the US Government, which implements major projects around the world aimed at saving lives, reducing poverty, strengthening democratic governance, combating natural disasters and helping countries in need to recover from various humanitarian crises.
