Bishkek, Dec. 26, 2017. /Kabar/. USAID promotes capacity of tour guides in Kyrgyzstan. According to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Business Development Project, a ceremony of awarding certificates was held today, following the results of training that was conducted by international experts of the World Federation of Tourist Guide Association (WFTGA) from Oct.16 to 29. Thus, 31 participants became certified WFTGA guides, while 18 guides received the status of "Guide-trainer". The training was organized by the USAID in the framework of the Program to Support and Improve the Tourism Industry of Kyrgyzstan.

The training included a week-long theoretical course and practical lessons for conducting tour guides around Bishkek and its suburbs. The participants were able to improve their skills in conducting presentations, interpreting the objects of tourist interest and managing the tourist group.

"Training completely changed our view on the principles of developing and conducting tour guides,"- Rakhat Jamalova said from Karakol. Comparing our past tour guide experience with the WFTGA standards, we saw what we can do to improve our tours".

During the second week, the course of "coaching" was conducted for 15 of the strongest tour guides. After being successfully accredited by the WFTGA, the trainer guides will be able to conduct similar trainings for other Kyrgyz tour guides and teach them modern skills and nuances of the profession, without involving international trainers for this purpose.

Tour guides play an important role in the tourism sector, acting as ambassadors for tourists coming to Kyrgyzstan. Earlier this year, USAID organized the most large-scale training for mountain guides on tracking tours from all over the country.

USAID continues its efforts to support and successfully develop tourism in the Kyrgyz Republic by strengthening the competitiveness of travel companies, organizing cultural events and promoting the country in international markets.
