Tashkent, Aug.28, 2019. /Kabar/. President of Uzbekistan signed a decree pardoning 65 convicts in connection with the celebration of Independence Day, UzA news agency reported.
According to the decree, 17 prisoners are fully released from punishment, 13 people are released on parole, and 20 people are commuted to lighter sentences.
Among those pardoned, 4 are women and 1 is a person over 60 years of age. 1 citizen of a foreign country, 39 citizens who participated in the activities of prohibited organizations.
In June, on the eve of the holy Ramadan Hayit holiday President Mirziyoyev pardoned 575 citizens who were serving their sentences in prison for committing a crime, repented of what they had done and firmly embarked on the path of correction.
Uzbekistan Independence Day is celebrated annually on Sept.1.
