Uzbekistan developing roadmap for cooperation with EAEU

Tashkent, Jan. 26, 2021. /Kabar/. The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (Uzbek Parliament) held a meeting of a working group to explore cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), UzA news agency reported.

The group aims to deeply analyze the positive and negative aspects of membership in the EAEU, study its impact on the national economy, and comprehensively consider the prospects for cooperation with other international organizations and foreign countries.

The meeting noted the need for in-depth study of the mechanism of legal regulation of the full-fledged participation in the markets of EAEU member states, accelerating work to bring national technical regulations into conformity with the requirements of this organization. A draft roadmap for 2021 was discussed and approved in order to effectively organize the cooperation between the EAEU and Uzbekistan.

Message from Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Oliy Majlis in December 2020 identified organization of research of establishing cooperation with Eurasian Economic Union as one of the main tasks of the group, as well as finding ways for Uzbekistan as a state-observer of this regional structure.
