Tashkent, Oct. 24, 2020. /Kabar/. In Uzbekistan, people are being re-infected with COVID-19, Nargiza Nurullaeva, a member of the Republican Anti Coronavirus Commission said during a briefing at the Uzbek Agency Information and Mass Communications.
"COVID-19 is a new infection. The body produces antibodies against this virus. But it is not yet clear exactly how resistant the antibodies are, whether it is possible to get it again and how long the antibodies protect the body. This problem is currently being studied," she said.
Currently, experts and specialists from many countries report about cases of re-infection with coronavirus. Meanwhile, the Uzbek Health Ministry has not yet officially recorded such cases.
Alexander Chepurnov, the virologist and former head of the laboratory of the Vector Center, noted that immunity to coronavirus remains six months after the disease.
U.S. scientists found out the reason for the repeated infection with coronavirus. According to experts, in some cases, certain recovering people may become infected with SARS-CoV-2 again in a few months, because their immunity will be reduced as a residual phenomenon.
