Tashkent, Nov. 26, 2020. /Kabar/. A Level-3 security laboratory will be established in Uzbekistan to produce COVID-19 vaccines. This is stipulated in a decree of President of the republic Shavkat Mirziyoyev on comprehensive measures to develop biotechnology and improve the system of biological security of the country, UzA agency reported.
According to Director of the Agency for Development of Pharmaceutical Industry Sardor Kariev, President t Mirziyoyev ordered to create a laboratory of the third level of security.
"We will be able to produce vaccines essential for the population, even vaccines against coronavirus", he said.
The cost of the laboratory itself is estimated at USD 8 million, and the project, which includes mass production of vaccines, at USD 53 million.
The project will be implemented on the territory of Tashkent Pharma Park pharmaceutical cluster.
Earlier it was reported that Chinese coronavirus vaccine started to be tested in Uzbekistan.
As of today, the total number of coronavirus cases has reached 72,178 in Uzbekistan, including 69,455 (96%) recoveries. The nationwide death toll stands at 605.
2,118 Uzbek patients are receiving treatment.
