Tashkent, Sept. 22, 2020. /Kabar/. Uzbekistan intends to take part in joint trials of the second EpiVacCorona Russian vaccine. This became known as a result of talks between representatives of the Agency for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare under the Uzbek Health Ministry and Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing of Russia) in a video conference mode, Narodnoe Slovo state-run newspaper reported.
The participants of the meeting discussed the current epidemic situation in Uzbekistan and Russia, the conditions for lifting the restrictions imposed, as well as the progress of testing the EpiVacCorona Russian vaccine, developed by State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology VECTOR.
In particular, the Uzbek side expressed interest in participating in joint trials of the vaccine after its registration.
The sides agreed to continue cooperation in topical areas of interaction, including prevention of the spread of infectious diseases.
The first batch of the coronavirus vaccine from the State Research Center for Virology and Biotechnology VECTOR of Rospotrebnadzor may be released in November. As with the first Russian vaccine developed by Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, it will be simplified to bring the product to the market.
The vaccine from Vector, as Rospotrebnadzor says, is characterized by a high degree of safety. It does not contain any living virus and forms immunity through the use of artificially synthesized peptides. The current beginning of the vaccine is the synthetic analogues of the viral protein sites, through which the immune system recognizes the pathogenic particle.
