Tashkent, Oct. 6, 2021 . / Kabar / . Uzbekistan joined the Intergovernmental Agreement on Dry Ports of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). The corresponding decree was signed by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the government portal Lex.uz reported.
A "dry port" of international importance is a place within the territory of a country with a logistics center connected to one or more modes of transport, designed for processing, temporary storage and statutory inspection of goods transported in international trade, and the performance of applicable customs control functions and formalities.
Ownership of “dry ports” can be public, private or in a public-private partnership.
The agreement on "dry ports", which allows simplifying the procedure of cargo transportation by sea, was signed in Bangkok on May 1, 2013.
The Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan is the competent authority for the implementation of the international agreement.
