Uzbekistan not to charge import duties on goods produced in CIS countries

Tashkent, Oct.29, 2019. /Kabar/. From Jan. 1, 2020, out of 11 thousand 293 items of the foreign trade nomenclature, the duty rates will not change by 7 thousand 261 items, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Uzbekistan told during the press conference, held the other day, Kun.uz reported.

Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee Mutalibjon Soliyev said the total volume of imports into the country for the past 9 months of the year has amounted to $ 16.2 billion.

Of these, goods worth $ 5.3 billion were imported from the CIS countries. Imports, subject to customs duties, amounted to $ 4.3 billion, of which the share of the CIS countries is $ 2 billion or 46.3% of the total amount.

Note that import duties are not levied on goods produced in CIS countries.

At the press conference it was announced that in accordance with Presidential Decree “On measures to further improve the tax policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, the VAT rate was reduced from 20 to 15% from Oct.1 this year. As a result, participants of foreign economic activity saved UZS 307.6 billion.
