Uzbekistan plans to vaccinate 60% of population against coronavirus by June 2021

Tashkent, Nov. 18, 2020. /Kabar/. By June 2021, it is planned to vaccinate 60% of Uzbekistan’s population against COVID-19, First Deputy Director of the Agency for Sanitary and Epidemiological Wellbeing of Uzbekistan Botirjon Kurbanov during the virtual symposium "New scientific data on COVID-19 coronavirus infection”.

According to Kurbanov, several events on organization of vaccination against coronavirus are currently held in Uzbekistan, the press service of the republic’s Health Ministry said Wednesday.

The deputy head of the agency said that at the moment the Uzbek side is also in talks with private structures to purchase vaccines.

In August, Uzbekistan joined the World Health Organization vaccination program - the international mechanism for the development and distribution of vaccine against coronavirus COVAX.

In early November, Minister of Innovation Development of Uzbekistan Ibrohim Abdurakhmanov said Uzbekistan plans to test vaccines from China, Russia, Europe and the United States.

Uzbekistan’s tally of infections has reached 70 thousand 581, including 67 thousand 7859 patients (96%) recoveries.

The death toll from COVID-19 coronavirus infections stands at 599; treatment is provided to 2 thousand 123 Uzbekistanis.
