TASHKENT (TCA) — The government of Uzbekistan has postponed the Tashkent International Investment Forum to November 2020. This was announced on February 21 by the Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov, Uzbekistan’s official information agency Dunyo reported.
The Forum was initially scheduled for March 5-6.
The government of Uzbekistan decided to postpone the date of Tashkent International Investment Forum and Plenary session of Foreign Investors Council under the President of Uzbekistan as a measure to prevent the possible spread of coronavirus among the forum participants and guests of the country.
Nevertheless, the organizing committee has no intension to terminate the preparation process.
“This is a great opportunity to put more effort and hold a quality event,” said Minister Umurzakov. “We will further continue calling new participants who are interesting in collaborating with Uzbekistan. The organizing committee will update those registered on a new date.”
To date, over 1,700 persons from more than 60 countries have signed up to participate in the Forum.
The minister said that the Uzbek government has prepared investment projects in every aspect, including energy, chemical, textile and other sectors. Despite the push back, the Ministry will continue the work on their approval and further implementation in Uzbekistan.
