Uzbekistan prepares to evacuate its citizens from Ukraine

The Uzbek Embassy in Kiev is developing an evacuation plan and a list of citizens willing to leave the territory of Ukraine due to the escalation of the situation and the introduction of the state of emergency in the country, the press service of the Uzbek Embassy in Kiev said.

Now the routes of departure and the place of departure are being worked out taking into account the closure of Ukrainian airspace.

"As the issues are coordinated with the interested services of the third countries on the acceptable ways of evacuation, citizens of Uzbekistan will be further informed through the website of the embassy www.uzbekistan.org.ua and channels in social networks," the report said.

In addition, the Uzbek diplomatic mission asks Uzbekistanis, who are in Ukraine, to remain calm and keep in touch with the embassy in case of additional questions.

On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of a "special military operation" in the Donbass. Ukraine's airspace was closed to civilian flights. Martial law has been introduced in the country.
