Tashkent, May 11, 2020. /Kabar/. The transfer of humanitarian cargo from Kyrgyzstan was held today, May 11 at the Yangiyer railway station in Syrdarya Region, the press service of the Kyrgyz Embassy in Tashkent reported.
The cargo was sent at the initiative of Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov for the population of Uzbekistan who suffered from the Sardoba dam burst.
As part of humanitarian aid, 1,000 tons of cement, 100 tons of rice and 10 tons of vegetable oil were handed over to the Uzbek side.
Kyrgyz Ambassador to Uzbekistan Ibrahim Junusov said peoples of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have always extended a helping hand to each other in the most difficult times.
"The assistance to be transferred will support Uzbekistan in this difficult period," he said, and wished a speedy recovery from the disaster.
In turn, Head of Syrdarya Region Gofurjon Mirzaev expressed his deep gratitude to the country's leadership and the brotherly people of Kyrgyzstan for the humanitarian assistance to the population, affected by the emergency incident at the Sardoba reservoir.
