Tashkent, Dec. 17, 2020. /Kabar/. Due to the fall in demand from the main consumers of Uzbek gas, reduction by 78% in exports was observed this year compared to the first nine months of 2019.
According to the publication of the Central Bank entitled “Balance of payments, international investment position and foreign debt of the Republic of Uzbekistan", the volume of exports of goods compared to 9 months of 2019 remained almost at the level of the corresponding period last year. The share of gold and gas in exports is 54% and 3%, respectively.
In the first 9 months of 2020, foreign trade turnover on trade in goods (including gold and adjustments) made USD 24.3 billion (USD 26.2 billion in the first 9 months of 2019). At the same time, exports and imports amounted to USD 10.8 billion and USD 13.6 billion, respectively. In this regard, the trade deficit on commodities was equal to USD 2.8 billion.
Commodities (gold and natural gas) accounted for 57% of total exports during the 9 months, with gold accounting for 54% and natural gas for 3%. At the same time, of the total exports of natural gas, 94% came from China, 5% from Tajikistan and 1% from Kyrgyzstan.
