Tashkent, Dec. 2, 2021 . / Kabar / . According to the decision of the Special Republican Commission for the Fight Against COVID-19, Uzbekistan suspends air communication with countries of South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Madagascar, Lesotho, Eswatini, Tanzania and Hong Kong starting from Dec. 3, the press service of the republic’s Health Ministry said.
In addition, Uzbekistan has banned entry of citizens of these countries, as well as persons who permanently reside in these countries or have been there in the past 14 days.
The restrictions will last until Jan. 10, 2022.
A new strain of coronavirus “omicron” was detected about a week ago in South Africa and is now actively spreading around the world.
In this regard, some countries have already begun to suspend flight connections with African states or prohibit entry from them.
