Tashkent, June 22, 2021 . / Kabar /. Uzbekistan temporarily closes its borders with Afghanistan due to the worsening epidemiological situation in the neighboring country, the Uzbek Health Ministry's press service said Tuesday.
The Central Asian republic suspends issuance of tourist visas for Afghan citizens and receipt of visa applications from travel agencies.
Persons will be allowed to enter Uzbekistan in the presence of a negative coronavirus test in special clinics or laboratories operating at the checkpoint.
Uzbek citizens tested positive for COVID-19 are referred to specialized clinics in the country for treatment. Foreign nationals with a positive results for the virus are not allowed on the territory of Uzbekistan.
On June 20, 1,927 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Afghanistan, as well as 93 deaths.
Thus, the country’s tally of infections has climbed to 103,321 and the death toll has reached 4,125.
