Bishkek, Feb. 22, 2022 . / Kabar / . Until 2026, hydropower projects with a total capacity of 868 MW will be implemented in the country, KunUz reported.
According to the Ministry of Energy, in accordance with the development strategy of Uzbekistan for 2022-2026, 15 new hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) with a total capacity of 868 MW will be built in the country. In addition, 5 more operating HPPs will be modernized.
As a result, from 2026, an additional 868 MW of generating capacity will be generated annually, including 7 additional HPPs with a total capacity of 173 MW in Samarkand, Surkhandarya and Tashkent regions, which will be built in 2022.
In addition, in 2023, modernization of 1 HPP in the Tashkent region and 2 in the Kashkadarya and Andijan regions with a total capacity of 29 MW will be completed, and in 2024, modernization of 4 HPPs in Andijan, Namangan, Surkhandarya and Tashkent regions with a total capacity of 122 MW will be completed.
Also in 2025-2026, 4 HPPs with a total capacity of 544 MW will be put into operation in Kashkadarya and Tashkent regions. As a result, by 2026, the total capacity of the country’s hydroelectric power plants will reach 2,920 MW.
