Tashkent, Jan. 31, 2022 . / Kabar / . A unified ring energy system will be created in Uzbekistan to prevent technical failures. This became known during the presentation to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of projects in the field of youth, sports, health and electricity, the press service of the Uzbek leader reported.
Measures to increase capacity of the power supply system were discussed at the presentation, in particular, to create a single ring system by building networks with a capacity of 500-750 kilowatts. It is planned to increase the total generating capacity to 27,400 megawatts by 2026.
President Mirziyoyev stressed the need to reform the electricity system and to continue and develop cooperation with neighboring countries. It was instructed to prepare a draft decree on increasing power generation capacity and automation of power supply.
"The main goal is to increase the stability of the power system and uninterrupted supply of electricity to the population," the report reads.
On Jan. 25, there was a technical failure of the regional power system. It affected all power plants and created an emergency situation.
