Uzbekistan to sell 100% of large chemical enterprise

Uzbekistan put up for sale 100% government stake in Nukus Polimer, which is located in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the press service of the State Assets Management Agency of Uzbekistan said on June 1.

The starting price of the stake is 70.1 billion som ($6.9 million). The company produces plastic pipes for gas supply and sewage systems from local raw materials.

Nukus Polimer was launched in August 2017. 27.1 billion som ($2.67 million) were invested in the construction of the plant. The decision to sell the state share was made in 2019 in connection with the restructuring of non-core assets of Uzbekneftegaz.

Uzkimyosanoat (Uzkhimprom) earlier announced the sale of controlling interest in two more chemical plants to investors: Ferghanaazot and Dekhkanabad Potash Plant. A controlling stake in these enterprises (51%) is offered to investors subject to investment commitments.

The sale of the state share of assets in the chemical industry was provided for by the development program of the chemical industry of Uzbekistan until 2030.
