Tashkent, Jan. 22, 2021. /Kabar/. Uzbekistan calls on Asian countries to stimulate the development of tourism for economic recovery during the pandemic of COVID-19 coronavirus, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov said at the 17th session of the Ministerial Council of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) member states held on Thursday via videoconference entitled "The New Normal and Safe and Healthy Tourism".
According to the press service of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, Kamilov stressed the need to take decisive actions and unite efforts to transition from responding to COVID-19 to actively preparing for the future recovery of the global economy.
The Uzbek minister informed the virtual meeting participants about the comprehensive measures being implemented in the country to fully support the tourism industry.
"Foreign tourists who will come to the republic after the resumption of trips will see tourism in a new way safer, more colorful and more individual," he said.
Earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan provides discounts up to 50% for transportation of pilgrims, and for improvement of attractiveness of the republic's airports - discounts up to 30% to published tariffs for main types of ground services for aircrafts.
In 2021, Uzbekistan plans to attract 1.7 million foreign and 7.5 million local tourists, as well as to increase provision of services in this area up to USD 370 million.
