Cholpon-Ata, Sept. 03, 2018. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov, taking over the presidency in the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States (CCTG) from Kazakh leader Nursultan Nazarbayev, noted that the Sixth Summit of the organization was being held in a unique format.

He stressed that expansion of the Council’s geography will raise the centuries-old friendship of Turkic-speaking states to a new level.

“I would like to commend and support the intention of the Republic of Uzbekistan to join the Turkic Council as a member-state. This step will create favorable conditions for the expansion of the Turkic Council and increase its authority in the international arena. I hope that Uzbekistan’s accession to the Turkic Council will give a new impetus to the organization, and will be a source of multiple changes”, Jeenbekov said.

The next meeting of CCTS, as it became known during the negotiations of the sides, will take place in March, 2019, Tashkent.
